A masterful piece of cinema: Skinned Deep (2004) breakdown.

Skinned Deep, an American slasher film directed by Gabriel Bartalos and released in 2004 should be highly recommended to lovers that love the horror genre. The Rockwell family wanders off on the highway and winds into a strange family due to. This family is comprised one mother and her three sons who go by the names Brain, Plates, and Surgeon General (Jason Dugre and Warwick Davis respectively) (Kurt Carley). As the story develops, it becomes apparent that the family is involved in illegal activities, and is a risk to the Rockwells. This discovery is no surprise.

Skinned Deep is an unforgettable horror movie due to its extravagant set pieces, its funny moments, and its quick-cutting. The speed and humor of the movie were appreciated by the reviewer for Variety, Dennis Harvey, who described the movie as "funny but also a bit repetitive." On the other hand, Steve Barton of Dread Central just gave the film 2.5 starsand pointed out the repetitive use of clichés that are no longer relevant and repetitive narrative as motives for his rating. Because of its special effectsand aesthetic that evokes the 1980s, and frenzied rhythm, Ryan Larson of Bloody Disgusting described it as "one some of the greatest and outrageous horror films from the decade."



The small budget the film was made on was going to prevent Bartalos from creating a frightening film that resembles The Texas Chain Saw Massacre or The Hills Have Eyes. Instead, he created the science fiction/slasher combo which is completely incomprehensible on top of being completely off the mark. Bartalos's previously worked on special effects for well-known horror films like "Frankenhooker" and "Brain Damage" prior to his involvement in "Skinned deep" is proof of his love of the imaginative.

Skinned Deep is a good alternative for horror fans who are looking for something different to experience, despite its limited budget as well as its outdated special effects which may put off certain viewers. After the initial half hour, which is an exact replica of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre The film takes something different that makes it one of the most original horror films of the (blog) decade. This allows the film to earn its place as one of the best in the genre.
